Jean Nouvel: `The translucent wire mesh along the sides of the staircase act as a kind of filter, toying with the perception of the public which sees itself whilst simultaneously held at adistance. In the first instance this filter is a picture which simply shows itself the way it is. Ascending the stairs, however, the eye is drawn to people going in the opposite direction.`
Jean Nouvel
3 Passerelle Solferino, Paris/Balconies/Balustrades
After decades, the pedestrian bridge Solferino was reconstructed in the framework of the major project `Grand Louvre` and now connects the Tuillerie Gardens of Louvre with Musée d`Orsay in the heart of the city. The stainless steel wire mesh has warp wires in the longitudinal direction of the bridge and thus underlines its elegant shape.

In the heart of this building there is a scissor staircase the two outside parts and the balustrade of which are clad in `Lago`. Each of the three elements is almost 20 m long and 8 m wide so that no connecting elements or the like are needed. The mesh has been fixed on top and tensioned at the bottom.
