1 Media Plaza, Utrecht, Niederlande/Museums/Public Building
A tunnel made of Tatami mesh is the spectacular entrance to a multimedia training centre. The mesh adjusts to the form without any problems and even allows light sources to be inserted in it.
Ellen Sander
2 Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Hamburg/Museums/Public Building
The mesh is mounted on the facade in a one-piece continuous web. The material is installed on a substructure and attached with tension springs. Owing to the monochrome flat surface of the mesh the surface is seemingly uninterrupted - the building acquires its individual appearance.

Arched ceiling made of architectural wire mesh `Sambesi`
Dominique Perrault
4 Kultur- und Kongreßzentrum, Luzern (CH)/Museums/Public Building
Jean Nouvel: `The translucent wire mesh along the sides of the staircase act as a kind of filter, toying with the perception of the public which sees itself whilst simultaneously held at adistance. In the first instance this filter is a picture which simply shows itself the way it is. Ascending the stairs, however, the eye is drawn to people going in the opposite direction.`
Jean Nouvel
5 Bibliothèque National de France, Paris/Museums/Public Building
The architectural wire mesh `Sambesi` was used for this elegant arched ceiling in the reading rooms. Each arch row could have been woven out of one single mesh piece. For maintenance purpose seach arch is an individual piece which can be loosened and refixed simply by means of a clip fastening. Sprinkler heads have been integrated into the mesh.
Dominique Perrault
6 Bibliothèque National de France, Paris/Museums/Public Building
Large sun shade elements in the inner courts of the Library increase the reading comfort. The metallic fabric `Omega 1520` has been inserted into frames which can be shifted according to the position of the sun. According to the required light absorption a suitable mesh type is selected. `Omega` allows different densities in one mesh element.
Dominique Perrault
7 Bibliothèque National de France, Paris/Museums/Public Building

Detail of the wall claddings in the four major entrance halls made of stainless steel mesh `Ocean`
Dominique Perrault
11 Bibliothèque National de France, Paris/Museums/Public Building
The ceiling made of the stainless steel mesh `Canisse` reflects the light of the surroundings, thus also the red colour of the carpeting and the brown colour of the wooden walls. In this way, the mesh, at this time of the day, appears itself in warm bronze, copper, or gold colours.
Dominique Perrault
12 Bibliothèque National de France, Paris/Museums/Public Building
The wall coverings in the halls of the towers remind one of the medieval `Gobelins`. The stainless steel mesh `Ocean` was developed for this application and was installed in large overlapping elements. Thus, the experience of room in the halls is unique and simultaneously, the mesh panels serve to hide the installations behind them.
Dominique Perrault
13 Peckham Library, London/Museums/Public Building
Staircase cladding with `Sambesi`. The mesh was distorted in such a way that the cables in the mesh follow the shape of the staircase.

The roof area beneath the canopy and the front facade in front of the entrance are clad in stainless steel wire mesh `Sambesi`, which is illuminated impressively at night.

The staircase cladding made of the stainless steel mesh `Lago` serves both as discretion wall and room divider.
Jean Nouvel
19 Kultur- und Kongreßzentrum, Luzern (CH)/Museums/Public Building
In the heart of this building there is a scissor staircase the two outside parts and the balustrade of which are clad in `Lago`. Each of the three elements is almost 20 m long and 8 m wide so that no connecting elements or the like are needed. The mesh has been fixed on top and tensioned at the bottom.
Jean Nouvel

The suspended ceiling made of architectural wire mesh `Ocean` hides architectural shifts inside the high archive halls. The following photograph is a cross-section through the building, and it shows how ideal the long and wide mesh panels are to accentuate the room in a particular way.

22 Media Plaza, Utrecht, Niederlande/Museums/Public Building
After passing the `Tatami` tunnel, the visitor gets to a reception area where large vaulted ceilings made of the stainless steel mesh `Omega 3380` have been suspended. The open area (approx.70%) allows the sprinklers and other services to be installed above the mesh. The horizontal illumination of the mesh with coloured light creates the impression of a golden surface.
Ellen Sander

The facade of the new building next to the neo-renaissance building is clad with stainless steel mesh `Omega 1520`. The material is translucent and yet it appears as though it were a closed surface. Störmer: `The structural reduction of the new facade to a translucent surface transforms it into a screen dividing the court yard.`
Alsop & Stoermer
27 Palais de Congrès, Paris/Museums/Public Building
Suspended ceiling made of stainless steel wire mesh `Omega`. Analogous to the interplay between silence and dynamics: The ceiling made of architectural wire mesh flows into the Hall of Palais de Congrès, Paris, like gently curved waves. The sphere of an open and vivid communication finds its architectural equivalent in the appearance of a moving, softly glimmering water surface which produces warm colour and light reflections.
Christian de Portzamparc
